Beginning June 18, the Sunday Masses will take place at 9:00am at Our Lady of the Assumption and at 10:45am at St. Joachim’s. The 4:00pm Saturday Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption will remain unchanged.
To receive income tax credit for donations to St. Joachim’s or Our Lady of the Assumption, offerings must be received at the Unit Office by 3:00pm on December 29, at which time the 2017 books will be officially closed. Offerings given for Sunday, December 31 will be credited to 2018. Any offerings placed in the collection baskets of churches outside the Unit will be credited to your 2018 total if they are not received from the Diocese Office by December 21. Thank you!
The December 24 bulletin will cover a 2-week period. After that, the next bulletin will be issued on January 7. Please submit announcements for the December 24 bulletin by Noon on Tuesday, December 19.

The Assumption Parish Youth Choir will lead the music at the 4:00pm Mass on Christmas Eve. A practice will be held on Saturday, December 23, 10:00am-Noon. Any former members of the Youth Choir or any other youth who would like to join the choir are welcome to the practice.

Application forms for the CWL PEI Catholic Girls’ Bursary are available at each Church in our Unit for girls and women attending college or university. Deadline: January 31, 2018.
Thank you for your support of the Capital Projects Fund at Our Lady of the Assumption via the envelope in your offering set the first Sunday of each month. Donations made to this fund will be used primarily for paving, roofing and painting projects which will require significant expenditures in the coming year.
In 2018, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish will establish a Cemetery Fund. The Property & Finance Committee seeks volunteers to serve on a Cemetery Committee. Members to oversee the upkeep, policies and procedures of our current cemetery and discuss plans for future expansion. If interested in serving on this committee, please contact Elaine.
Assumption Knights of Columbus are selling tickets for 400L of heating oil (Kenmac Energy). Secondary prizes of Sobeys and Petro-Canada gift cards and Fox Meadow green fees. Tickets: $5 each or 5 for $20. Proceeds to local charities.

Funerals & Weekday Masses: When a funeral is scheduled on a weekday on which there is mass, only the mass at the Church where the funeral is being held will be cancelled.

Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Altar Server Program: Serving at the Altar is a privileged way to draw closer to Jesus. It is a significant role in the celebration of the mass and helps young people learn the importance of both commitment and of service to others. The Parish has recently revitalized its Altar Server Program and invites students in grades 3 or higher and their families to participate in this ministry. Money placed in the bucket, at Our Lady of the Assumption, by children each week is submitted to the Holy Childhood Association at year’s end. Under its banner of children helping children, monies raised are directed towards mission countries – building of schools, provision of health and nutrition programs and medications, school fees, and teaching/learning resources.
Community Service Bursary: Grade 11 & 12 students who volunteer as Catechists or Children’s Liturgy Leaders are eligible to receive a bursary from the Province. The Bursary is calculated at a rate of $5/hour. Students are required to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours or up to a maximum of 100 hours. For further details, visit www.studentloan.pe.ca.
If school is delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather, the weekday mass at St. Joachim’s will be cancelled that day. Weekday masses at Assumption will be held as scheduled. Weekend mass cancellations within the Unit will be communicated to parishioners via internet, radio, e-mail and/or telephone. We will make every effort to inform parishioners of any cancellations in a timely manner.
